What Moves the Price of a Demolition Job in Colorado Springs

No honest contractor can name a price per square foot before seeing the site. The cost of a demolition depends on a handful of factors, and understanding them makes quotes easier to compare. We don't publish fixed rates because the variables below change every job.
Factors that usually matter most
- Structure type and size: Wood-frame houses, masonry buildings and reinforced concrete behave very differently under the machine.
- Access and slope: Hillside lots on the west and southwest sides of town, or tight infill lots, can limit equipment size and truck routes.
- Foundations and basements: Removing footings, basements and slabs adds equipment time and haul volume. Quote with and without so you can compare.
- Hazardous materials: Asbestos abatement, lead paint and similar items are separate from the demolition and can be a major line item.
- Disposal and recycling: Tipping fees vary by material, and clean concrete, metal and some wood can often be recycled at lower cost than landfill.
- Permits and utilities: Fees, inspections and disconnect charges are set by the agencies and providers, not by the contractor.
Comparing quotes fairly
Ask each contractor what is in and out of the number: foundation removal, backfill and grading, permit handling, utility coordination, dumpster and haul-off, and site cleanup. A low price that leaves out the foundation is not lower.
